It started by accident.

As most things do.

We had all traveled hundreds of miles to gather for the Solstice in front of one fireplace, on one magical mountain, tucked deep in the woods near a crystal river.

At nightfall, the snow arrived…… glistening against the Christmas lights and the curve of the moon.  We danced in the field by the stream, swirling among snowflakes.

All of us winter dragons with smoky puffs of breath in the snowy night, dancing like it was the end of the world.

We cuddled back in front of the fire at 2 something in the morning, when Dicie joked that maybe we should leave wishes out for the Solstice Faerie, kind of like leaving out cookies for Santa Claus.

Before I knew it, I was running to get slips of paper and Zelda was teaching everyone how she writes her manifestation wishes with heavy lead pencils.

The fire crackled.

The snow fell.

We dreamed.

Pencils scrawled the cream slips with curves of penmanship.

We rolled the slips up into tiny scrolls, and Tessa ran to get her gold gilded bottles to hold them all.

We held our bottles up to the moon and blew on our wishes into the top of the bottles.  The shiny blue ribbons were passed around and before long, there were 20 tiny gold bottles filled with wishes decorating the tree.

Burke and I hung ours together.  I have a feeling we both wished for the same thing.

It starts with an R and ends with an R………..
