How To Bake Some Vee-licious Holiday Cookies. Mmm. Yeah.
My cookies are good, People.
I think it might come down to the dance moves I bust out while I bake. Because that shizz is on POINT.
The secret’s out. I love to bake. And my secret ingredient is a dash of hip shimmy. Photo by Iiae (@IiaeisCosmic)
Several of my friends who have watched my baking mess in person have asked me to make a ‘how to make cookies’ video for the Danger Diary. I am seriously considering it. You’d get to see the dance moves – the egg crackin’, the vanilla drop, the batter beat.
As I type this…it’s late late late into Christmas Eve, technically the wee hours of Christmas morning and all is quiet. Everyone else is sleeping and I’m sitting in the kitchen, baking, enjoying the lights of the tree and tuning into Christmas music on low volume on the radio. I’ve been reminiscing about Christmases throughout the years. Christmas eve has always been my favorite, the decorations, the lights, the excitement for the next day. It holds a special magic for me.
As I sit here in the quiet of the night and as the snow falls outside, I am overcome with gratitude for all of this. I am grateful for all of you whether we never meet, or if we have met a million times before. This place on the internet, this space where I write my thoughts, is something special to me, a place where I share my secrets and tips, my thoughts and mysteries passed down from my family. I hope that you’ve enjoyed it as much as I’ve enjoyed writing it. We’ll see how it continues on in the future. If you enjoy my posts, please share them, I am certainly encouraged by your feedback and I’m grateful for all the comments I’ve gotten. It’s been nice to have this time with you. I’m sending you good thoughts and fantastic adventures…..
AND…my personal cookie recipe – it’s one of my favorites, I make it every year.
Oatmeal Cranberry Chocolate Chip Cookies!!!!!!
The cookies I just left out for Santa and the Reindeer.
You’ll need:
- 1 cup of brown sugar
- 1 cup of white sugar
- 1 cup of butter
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons of milk
- 2 tablespoons of vanilla extract (yes, tablespoons. It’s awesome).
- 2 teaspoons of nutmeg
- 2 1/2 cups of old fashioned rolled oats (not instant)
- 12 oz bag of Nestle Toll house Chocolate Chips
- 1 cup of dried cranberries
- 2 cups of flour
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- 1 teaspoon of baking soda
Put that oven on 350, Baby. Awwwww hot.
Mix the sugars and the butter together in one bowl. Put on some amazing music. Put your hips into that stirring. WERK.
Add the eggs one at a time.
Stir in the milk, the voodoo vanilla and the nutmeg.
In a separate bowl, mix the flour, the baking powder and the baking soda.
Combine with the sugar bowl mix and mix thoroughly. Add oatmeal, chocolate chips and cranberries.
I like to bake mine about around 8 1/2 minutes. They will be all soft and not completely baked, but if you put them on top of the counter to cool for five minutes, they will be hard enough to move onto a plate and gooey soft and delicious!
Wishing you a happy and joyful holiday wherever you are! I hope it’s even more tasty now. If you were here, I’d share all of these cookies with you. xo
